You are the master of your own legal defense. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
Missouri Prisoner Advocacy Consulting (MOPAC) was founded in Columbia, Missouri in January 2016. Anthony, an exoneree, was the brainchild of MOPAC. Anthony was wrongly convicted of 1st-degree murder at 14. He served a total of 20 years of a wrongful conviction inside of the Missouri Department of Corrections (MDOC) before his conviction was finally overturned June 2014 by Cole County Circuit Judge, Daniel Green, in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Anthony filed a writ of habeas corpus alleging that he was actually innocent of the 1st-degree murder charges. He was released July 3, 2014, and relocated to Columbia, Missouri. After his release, Anthony gained employment with the Bukowsky Law Firm in Columbia, Missouri, a criminal defense law firm where he worked as a paralegal.
During his incarceration, Anthony studied criminal and appellate law. He worked inside of the prison law library as a law clerk helping inmates file grievances against prison administrators for mistreatment and helped indigent defendants file pro se post-conviction appeals in state and federal court.
Currently, Anthony is employed as a legal-paraprofessional with the Chapel Law Group in Jefferson City, Missouri, a Civil Rights law firm that fights employment discrimination, racial discrimination in Public facilities, criminal defense, and helps individuals recover civil damages for personal injury claims.
Anthony is an experienced legal researcher and strategist who has over 20 years of experience navigating the criminal justice system. He has added to his knowledge and expertise since his release working under experienced attorneys in criminal defense law firms in Central- Missouri. As a non-lawyer, Anthony has a unique ability to identify pathways to freedom for defendants claiming innocence or serving excessive sentences.
